Have you ever watched Kobe Bryant play and wonder how he makes a move look so effortlessly. Yes he is a natural gifted athlete but it goes deeper then that.
I think most have heard the phrase, “practice makes perfect!” And yes it does but what makes the game even more perfect is visualizing it before it happens. I use to hate when we did visualization for basketball because that meant no touching the a ball for two weeks. In my head I thought how the heck can we play basketball if we don’t have a ball. What I didn’t realize was that we were visualizing the game so that when we did have a ball it would be like clock work.
I first truly understood the importance of visualizing when I started running high school cross country. We would travel out a day before the race and literally walk the whole course, seeing the areas where we could past unsuspecting opponents, sections on a hill with a turn that you should surge to create the illusion to opponents that you literally disappeared, in short tons of small mental notes that will crush your opponents mindset and ensure their defeat.
I would then go home and lay in bed as I visualized how I wanted the race to go in my mind. I would visualize the pace I wanted to run after the starting gun, the pack of runners I should be running with and how I would pick them off one by one. This same practice came in handy when I ran in college in Denver, CO home to some of the worlds best runners.
Visualization is such a key aspect of making your dreams become a reality. If you do not know what it is you want in life how can you know where to start? By visualizing the end result you will be able to create the path it takes to get there. I have used this visualization technique in every business that I have started. Whether I failed or succeed is not what is important. What’s important is that I was able to see the idea all the way through and it is all possible due to visualizing what I wanted to see happening and then making it happen.
If you want to use these same techniques, download my 90 Day Challenge where I break down exactly how I was able to use visualization in order to get the results I wanted. I guarantee that you will have a leg up on your competition because at the end of the day; anything worth doing is going to be hard and you can outlast everyone if you have the end result in mind!
