Have you ever heard that little voice in your head that says I don’t think you should go there or do that but you end up doing it anyway. After the deed is done you say to yourself, I wish I didn’t do that, I knew I should have listened to myself. Hmm, back up. Let’s review, have you ever actually listened to that voice and said I wish I didn’t do that…I don’t think so. That little voice is called Jiminy Cricket, or your conscious or intuition.
What’s so important about intuition or “trusting your gut?” Well for starters it’s usually not wrong that’s for certain. Intuition is usually the last line of defense for any type of decision, big or small. When you picked what college you wanted to go to, walking on campus you just knew, that was intuition. When you are trying to decide between McDonalds and that salad. Hmmm….intuition lol. When you know the person your dating is your soulmate…that’s intuition.
Your intuition doesn’t scream it you, it whispers, that is why sometimes we either ignore it or don’t hear it. Start listening to your intuition and not necessarily other people. Don’t be afraid to go against the tribe. If you listen to your intuition, trust me your life will be a greater adventure. Trusting your intuition will stretch you in ways you might not have imagined but, you will never wrong. It won’t steer you in the wrong direction, nor is it judgmental, sexist, racist, you know all that worldly stuff. Your intuition is probably the purest things in the world besides a new born baby and cats with big eyes.
Next time you have a big decision to make or are fretting over what you want to eat, wear, or how you want your hair. Ask yourself these three questions:
- What do I want?
- Why do I want it?
- What I need to do to receive it?
Use intuition decision making, it may not be what the norm is but in the end it will make you happy. Learn to trust your intuition. Start trusting your intuition in relationships and friendships, in business matters, in all areas of life! Who cares what others think, Jiminy Cricket surely doesn’t and neither should you.
